Biology Scholars Program member Mye Pinmada Makornwattana (class of 2026) was recently announced as a finalist for the 2026 University Medal. The University Medal, established in 1871, recognizes students who have demonstrated exceptional academic excellence and a commitment to service during their time at UC Berkeley. As part of Mye's numerous accomplishments and leadership roles, she served as BSP's Biology 1A Study Group Leader for two years and fostered a welcoming and constructive learning environment for her BSP peers. Her advice for students: "Embrace imperfection. Taking initiative can come with resistance, but that’s not because it won’t work — it’s just because you’re in new territory. Appreciating the process of trial and error, celebrating small triumphs, and believing that it would be worth it, was what kept me going."
Warm congratulations, Mye!
