I am a BSP alumna, class of 2019, double-majored in Molecular Cell Biology and Public Health. During my time at Cal I was able to participate in a number of extracurriculars and internships including the Suitcase Clinic, the Summer Health Professions Education Program, Global Brigades at Honduras and the Program for Early Researchers with BSP, amongst others. After graduating, I solidified my skills during my time at Planned Parenthood and LifeLong Medical. As an immigrant and first-generation college student, I know the importance of having a mentor and advisor who is aware of their students' needs. Also, I am mindful of BSP's role in underrepresented students' lives at UCB. So, no matter at what stage of my career, my mission is to be guidance for underrepresented students. Coming to Berkeley, I was really intimidated about being in such a rigorous, competitive environment, but BSP has truly been a safe space for me to navigate the challenges I've faced at this school. I have received so much support from BSP staff and the friends I've made in this program, and I hope to give back in the same way as a peer advisor.
Guiding students as they uncover the intricacies of life, assisting them in their research endeavors, and instilling a love for science is a privilege that brings me immense joy. As an immigrant, first-generation, community college transfer student and a parent, I realized that my fascination with mentoring extended beyond personal interest; it was a calling to guide aspiring biologists on their journeys.
