Anthony Pham, Peer Advisor

My name is Anthony Pham, and I will be one of your new peer advisors this year. I was born and raised in San Jose, California. I love being able to go home any time I want! I am the first to go to college from my family, and so there is tremendous pressure as well as support from my family to do well in life.I majored in Integrative Biology and graduated in spring 2017. I have been a fan of plants ever since I was a child because I spent most of my time playing with pine cones and weeds in the field during the second grade. I did not have too many friends because I could not speak fluent English. This experience eventually led me to do research with plants. Hopefully, I will be able to discover new natural remedies in the future, and these discoveries may lower the cost of healthcare and better our global environment.

I joined BSP during the spring semester of my sophomore year. I heard about BSP when I was in FPF during my freshmen year, but I did not realize its impact until I met BSP students and alumni that helped me regain my self-esteem and vision in science. Once I became a BSPer, I learned about the strengths that I possess and the skills to hone my abilities. My experiences in BSP allowed me to become a BFPer and complete the IB honors program. I am now a BSP peer advisor because I want to give back to the community that helped me thrive at Berkeley and be a part of the exciting process that nurtures great unique minds. I hope to meet all of you and learn about your journeys. I ultimately want to help you develop your own unique path to success.
